Victorious Victory, Valiant Vigilance

My friend, it is a truth we too often forget: we are not soldiers fighting for victory, but children standing on ground already conquered by our King. That cry from the cross, "It is finished," was not a whisper of defeat, but the universe-altering shout of a champion . Your calling is not to achieve what Christ has already accomplished, but to enforce this glorious reality in every corner of your life.

🛣️ A Walk in Akasia: The Battle in the Mundane

Just the other day, I was walking the dusty streets of Akasia as the familiar frustration of loadshedding set in. The hum of generators filled the air, a modern South African soundtrack to our daily struggles. I felt a familiar anxiety creep in—worries about providing, about safety, about an uncertain future. It was in that moment the Holy Spirit whispered, "You are acting like a victim trying to survive a siege, when you are, in fact, a viceroy appointed to administer a conquered kingdom."

I was like the Israelites after Joshua had subdued Canaan, still fearing isolated pockets of resistance as if they were undefeated armies, instead of trusting the completed report: "The Lord has given you the land" . The darkness outside was real, but the greater truth was that the Light of the World had already overcome every form of darkness . My job was not to beg for light, but to flip the spiritual switch, to stand on the truth that the ultimate power source will never be cut off.

⚔️ The Already and the Not Yet: Enforcing the Finished Work

How do we, here and now, enforce a victory won two millennia ago? We must understand the nature of Christ's finished work.

· It is a Legal Reality: On the cross, Jesus disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, triumphing over them (Colossians 2:15). The supreme legal authority of the universe has issued a decree of pardon and victory for you. When the accuser comes with whispers of your past failures, you do not plead your own merits. You present the court document stamped with the blood of Christ. It is finished. The case is closed.

· It is a Spiritual Reality: This is not a metaphor for positive thinking. It is a cosmic fact. Just as "by the sweat of your brow you will eat your food" was a consequence of the first fall, so "you are more than a conqueror through him who loved us" is the consequence of Christ's victory . We enforce this not with physical weapons, but with the weapons of truth, righteousness, faith, and the proclaimed Word of God (Ephesians 6:13-17).

🛡️ Practical Enforcement: Standing on Conquered Ground

So, what does this "enforcement" look like in the trenches of our lives in Pretoria, in the face of "black tax," unemployment, or social friction?

· In Prayer: You do not approach God begging for a victory He is reluctant to give. You come in the authority of Jesus' name, announcing alignment with a victory He has already won. You pray from a position of victory, not for it. You declare, "In the name of Jesus, my family stands on the conquered ground of your peace. My finances are under the administration of your provision. It is finished here, as it is in heaven."

· In Spiritual Warfare: When fear, anxiety, or temptation roar like a lion, remember they have had their teeth pulled. You face a defeated foe. Your command is simple, based on the finished work: "I resist you, devil, in the name of Jesus. You were defeated at the cross. Flee from me, for I belong to Christ." You are not trying to defeat him; you are evicting a trespasser from your King's property.

· In Daily Obedience: Every act of love in a hate-filled world, every choice of integrity in a corrupt system, every stand for truth in a culture of lies is an act of enforcement. You are planting the flag of Christ's Kingdom on the battlefield of your office, your school, your home, declaring, "This territory belongs to my King."

✝️ The Unshakeable Foundation

This is not a clever motivational technique. It is the logical, biblical outcome of the historical reality of the cross and resurrection. If Christ has not been raised, our faith is futile, and we are still in our sins, fighting a war we cannot win (1 Corinthians 15:17). But Christ has been raised. He is the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. Therefore, the victory is real, objective, and ours.

Stand firm, then, my brother, my sister. You are not a victim of your circumstances, your past, or the devil's schemes. You are a victor. The war is over. The King has won. Your high calling is to stand, to speak, to live, and to love in a manner that makes the invisible victory of Jesus visible to a world still groping in the darkness. Enforce it.

May this truth anchor you today. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God the Father, and the powerful fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you. Amen.

The Rooster’s Restoration

The Rooster’s Restoration: When Failure Becomes Your Foundation By Harold Mawela Akasia, Pretoria Scripture: “The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: ‘Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.’ And he went outside and wept bitterly.” (Luke 22:61-62) I woke up this past Tuesday to the sound of a rooster crowing somewhere in the dusty streets of Akasia. My neighbour, old Mr. Dlamini, keeps a few chickens in his backyard—much to the annoyance of the municipality, but that is a story for another day. That crow pierced the morning silence like a prophet’s whisper. And immediately, my mind went to Simon Peter. Now, let me be honest with you. For years, I preached Peter’s denial as a cautionary tale—a warning against pride, a lesson in failure. I stood behind pulpits in Mamelodi, in Soshanguve, in the city centre, and I would point my finger and say, “Don’t be like Peter! He boasted when he should have pray...

The Law of the Open Hand

The Law of the Open Hand: From Scarcity to Divine Supply in a Clenched-Fist World By Harold Mawela From my study in Akasia, Pretoria, I look out at a nation holding its breath. We live in the perpetual tension between promise and provision, between what is pledged from podiums and what is present in our pantries. The headlines scream of crises competing for our fragmented attention, while our hearts whisper the ancient, agonizing question: “Will there be enough?” In this climate, a primal instinct takes hold: the clench. We clench our fists around our finances, our futures, our fragile sense of security. Yet, I come to you today with a counter-intuitive, kingdom truth, a law as immutable as gravity but activated by faith: The Law of the Open Hand. The Parable of the Tightened Fist: A Story from Soshanguve Let me tell you a story. Not from a dusty theological text, but from the sun-baked streets of Soshanguve. I visited a community kitchen run by a widow, Gogo Mthembu. Her pension was a...

The Investigator's Faith

The Investigator’s Faith: Where Reason and Revelation Meet in the African Soul A Personal Encounter with Truth My friends, let me tell you about the day I became a detective of the divine. It was right here in Akasia, Pretoria, where the red soil stains your shoes and the summer heat shimmers like a mirage over the Mabopane Highway. I was sitting in my study, surrounded by books—theological tomes, scientific journals, and the daily newspaper filled with stories of load-shedding and political turmoil. That particular day, the front page carried a story about our local police station struggling with only five operational vehicles to serve 152 square kilometers . Can you imagine? How does one enforce justice without proper tools This got me thinking about our spiritual tools—how we investigate the greatest claims of truth. Are we properly equipped? I recall my uncle, a lifelong skeptic, challenging me: "How can an educated man like you believe a dead man came back to life?" Inst...
