The Importance of Being Mindful of Our Actions in the Present

Heading: The Importance of Being Mindful of Our Actions in the Present

Scripture: Psalm 90:12 - "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."

1. Life is short and fleeting, and we never know when our time on earth will come to an end.

2. Every moment we have is precious and should be used wisely to bring glory to God.

3. The choices we make now will have a lasting impact on our eternal destiny.

4. Being mindful of how we spend our time, resources, and energy can help us live a purposeful and fulfilling life.

5. Let us strive to make the most of each day, counting our blessings and using our talents to serve others and advance the kingdom of God.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us to remember the brevity of life and the importance of making the most of each moment. May we seek your guidance in all that we do so that we may live with wisdom and purpose. Amen.

My story

Once upon a time, in a small town nestled between rolling hills and lush forests, there lived a young woman named Emily. She was known for her kind heart and gentle spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. But despite her compassionate nature, Emily often felt lost and alone in the chaos of the world around her.

One day, as she wandered through the town square, Emily came across a group of people gathered around a preacher who spoke of the love and grace of Jesus Christ. Something stirred deep within her soul as she listened to his words, and she felt a sense of peace wash over her like a cool breeze on a hot summer day.

From that moment on, Emily's life changed in ways she never could have imagined. She embraced her faith in Christ wholeheartedly, allowing His love to fill her heart with a joy and purpose she had never known before. She spent her days serving others in His name, spreading kindness and light wherever she went.

As the seasons passed and the years flew by, Emily's impact on the town and its people grew stronger. Her simple acts of love and kindness touched the lives of many, shining a light in the darkness and bringing hope to those who had lost their way.

But then, one fateful day, tragedy struck. A fire swept through the town, leaving devastation and heartache in its wake. Many homes were destroyed, and lives were lost. Emily's heart ached for her neighbors and friends, but she knew that in times of sorrow, faith and love were needed most.

She rallied the community together, leading them in prayer and support for those who had lost everything. Her unwavering faith and love for Christ inspired others to rise up and rebuild, to find strength in their shared humanity and compassion for one another.

In the end, the town rose from the ashes stronger and more united than ever before. And though the scars of the fire remained, they served as a reminder of the power of love and faith to overcome even the greatest of trials.

As Emily looked out over the town, her heart filled with gratitude for the journey that had brought her to this moment. Life, she realized, was but a whisper in the grand scheme of things. But by living for Christ and letting His love amount in all that she did, she had made that whisper count in ways that would echo for eternity. And so, with a smile on her face and a prayer in her heart, she continued to walk in faith, knowing that she was exactly where she was meant to be.

Go deeper

Life is indeed short and fleeting, as stated in James 4:14, "What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes." Therefore, it is crucial to make our lives count by living for Christ and letting His love abound in us. As believers, we are called to be lights in this dark world (Matthew 5:14-16) and to make the most of every opportunity to share the Gospel (Colossians 4:5).

Living for Christ means surrendering our will to His and seeking to glorify Him in all that we do (1 Corinthians 10:31). It involves loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and loving our neighbors as ourselves (Mark 12:30-31). This kind of life is not about achieving success or accumulating wealth, but about serving others and advancing God's kingdom on earth.

In conclusion, life is short, but it can have eternal significance when we live in obedience to Christ and allow His love to shine through us. Let us make every moment count by seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33).

The Firm Foundation of Faith

## The Firm Foundation of Faith **Scripture:** Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." **Thought:** Life's journey is often marked by uncertainty and challenges. This faith allows us to persevere, knowing that God is working, even when we can't see the immediate results. It empowers us to step forward with courage, knowing we're not alone. Embracing this understanding allows us to live with a peace that surpasses all understanding, a peace rooted in the unshakeable truth of God's love and faithfulness. **Action Plan:** Spend 15 minutes today in quiet meditation on Hebrews 11. Reflect on a specific area in your life where you need to strengthen your faith. **Prayer:** Heavenly Father, I come before You today acknowledging my need for a stronger faith. Help me to truly grasp the meaning of Hebrews 11:1, to trust in Your promises even when I cannot see the outcome. In Jesus’ name, Amen. My story  Th...

**Restoring Relationships**

Last Tuesday, during Eskom’s Stage 6 load-shedding, I sat in my dimly lit Akasia living room, staring at a WhatsApp message from my cousin Thabo. Our once-close bond had fractured over a political debate—ANC vs. EFF—that spiraled into personal jabs. His text read: *“You’ve become a coconut, bra. Black on the outside, white-washed inside.”* My reply? A venomous *“At least I’m not a populist clown.”* Pride, that sly serpent, had coiled around our tongues.   But as the generator hummed and my coffee cooled, Colossians 3:13 flickered in my mind like a candle in the dark: *“Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”* Unconditional. No asterisks. No “but he started it.” Just grace.   **II. The Theology of Broken Pipes**   South Africa knows fractures. Our Vaal River, choked by sewage and neglect, mirrors relational toxicity—grievances left to fester. Yet, Christ’s forgiveness isn’t a passive drip; it’s a flash flood. To “bear with one another” (Colossians 3:13) is to choo...

The Power of the Mundane

## The Power of the Mundane **Scripture:** "And not a sparrow falls to the ground apart from your Father's will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are more valuable than many sparrows." - Matthew 10:29-31 **Thought:** We often focus on the big moments, the grand gestures, believing those are the only things that truly matter to God. But Jesus reminds us that He cares deeply for even the smallest details of our lives. The way we approach our daily tasks, the words we speak, the thoughts we harbor – all of it is important. God sees it all, and He values each detail. This understanding empowers us to see purpose in the mundane, to find meaning in the seemingly insignificant. **Action Plan:** Today, choose one small task that you typically rush through or do without much thought. As you do it, consciously pause and offer it as a prayer to God. Thank Him for the opportunity to serve Him, even in this seemingly insignificant act.  **...
