The Search for Truth: God's Evidence in Creation and History

The Search for Truth: God's Evidence in Creation and History

Scripture: "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." - 1 Corinthians 1:18

1. Claiming ignorance in the face of overwhelming evidence of God's existence is not a sign of intellectual sophistication.

2. Willful ignorance blinds individuals to the abundant proof of God's presence in His word, history, and creation.

3. Those who seek truth with open hearts and minds will find God's presence and hear His voice.

4. True wisdom lies in recognizing our limitations and humbly seeking knowledge from the ultimate source of all truth.

5. Let us pray for those who are lost in their ignorance, that they may be guided to seek and discover the undeniable evidence of God's love and existence.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we humbly come before You, seeking Your wisdom and guidance. Open our hearts and minds to recognize the evidence of Your existence in our world and in Your word. Grant us the strength to seek truth with humility and openness, that we may find You and walk in Your ways. Amen.

My story

Once upon a time, in a world filled with differing beliefs and ideologies, there lived a being who exuded a radiant presence that seemed to both intrigue and perplex those around them.

The being was known as God, a powerful force that was often debated and challenged by the inhabitants of the land. One day, an atheist boldly declared that God did not exist, dismissing any notion of His presence with a confident air of certainty.

Beside the atheist stood an agnostic, who pondered the concept of God with a sense of curiosity and uncertainty. He admitted that he did not know if God existed or not, for it was a complex and elusive concept that defied easy categorization.

The atheist smirked at the agnostic's admission, mocking him for his willingness to accept ignorance rather than take a firm stance on the matter. The agnostic, however, remained calm and thoughtful, understanding that true wisdom often lay in acknowledging one's limitations and embracing the search for knowledge.

As the debate raged on, a wise old sage approached the atheist and the agnostic, his eyes brimming with a deep and knowing gaze. He spoke of the inherent beauty and power of God, how He transcended human understanding and revealed Himself in myriad ways to those who sought Him with an open heart and mind.

The sage shared tales of ancient wisdom and modern discoveries, weaving together a tapestry of evidence that pointed towards the existence of God in the world. He emphasized that the pursuit of knowledge was a noble and worthwhile endeavor, one that led to growth, enlightenment, and a deeper understanding of the universe.

The atheist scoffed at the sage's words, refusing to consider any evidence that contradicted his beliefs. The agnostic, however, felt a stirring of curiosity deep within his soul, a whisper of a longing to uncover the mysteries of God and discover His essence for himself.

In the days that followed, the agnostic embarked on a journey of exploration and discovery, immersing himself in the study of ancient texts, philosophical teachings, and spiritual inquiry. He found himself drawn to the profound wisdom contained within the words of the sage, and began to see the world through a new lens of possibility and wonder.

As for the atheist, he remained steadfast in his denial of God, but a seed of doubt had been planted in his mind, a nagging question that lingered at the edges of his consciousness. Despite his resistance, he couldn't shake the feeling that perhaps there was more to the universe than he had previously believed.

And so, the tale of the atheist, the agnostic, and the sage unfolded, each on their own path of discovery and introspection. The sage's words echoed in their hearts, reminding them that true knowledge was not found in arrogance or ignorance, but in a humble and open-minded pursuit of God. And in the end, it was those who sought with sincerity and an open heart who found the answers they were seeking, and heard the voice of God whispering softly in their souls.

God deeper

The search for truth can be found in God's evidence in creation and history. Romans 1:20 states that God's invisible attributes, eternal power, and divine nature are clearly seen in the things He has made, so that people are without excuse. Creation itself points to the existence of a Creator who is powerful and wise.

Additionally, history reveals God's hand at work in the world. Psalm 33:10-11 reminds us that the Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing and His plans stand forever. Through studying history, we can see how God. has orchestrated events and fulfilled His purposes throughout time.

Ultimately, the search for truth leads us back to God, who is the source of all truth. Jesus said in John 14:6 that He is the way, the truth, and the life. As we seek to understand truth through creation and history, we must ultimately look to God and His Word for ultimate answers.

The Rooster’s Restoration

The Rooster’s Restoration: When Failure Becomes Your Foundation By Harold Mawela Akasia, Pretoria Scripture: “The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: ‘Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.’ And he went outside and wept bitterly.” (Luke 22:61-62) I woke up this past Tuesday to the sound of a rooster crowing somewhere in the dusty streets of Akasia. My neighbour, old Mr. Dlamini, keeps a few chickens in his backyard—much to the annoyance of the municipality, but that is a story for another day. That crow pierced the morning silence like a prophet’s whisper. And immediately, my mind went to Simon Peter. Now, let me be honest with you. For years, I preached Peter’s denial as a cautionary tale—a warning against pride, a lesson in failure. I stood behind pulpits in Mamelodi, in Soshanguve, in the city centre, and I would point my finger and say, “Don’t be like Peter! He boasted when he should have pray...

The Law of the Open Hand

The Law of the Open Hand: From Scarcity to Divine Supply in a Clenched-Fist World By Harold Mawela From my study in Akasia, Pretoria, I look out at a nation holding its breath. We live in the perpetual tension between promise and provision, between what is pledged from podiums and what is present in our pantries. The headlines scream of crises competing for our fragmented attention, while our hearts whisper the ancient, agonizing question: “Will there be enough?” In this climate, a primal instinct takes hold: the clench. We clench our fists around our finances, our futures, our fragile sense of security. Yet, I come to you today with a counter-intuitive, kingdom truth, a law as immutable as gravity but activated by faith: The Law of the Open Hand. The Parable of the Tightened Fist: A Story from Soshanguve Let me tell you a story. Not from a dusty theological text, but from the sun-baked streets of Soshanguve. I visited a community kitchen run by a widow, Gogo Mthembu. Her pension was a...

The Investigator's Faith

The Investigator’s Faith: Where Reason and Revelation Meet in the African Soul A Personal Encounter with Truth My friends, let me tell you about the day I became a detective of the divine. It was right here in Akasia, Pretoria, where the red soil stains your shoes and the summer heat shimmers like a mirage over the Mabopane Highway. I was sitting in my study, surrounded by books—theological tomes, scientific journals, and the daily newspaper filled with stories of load-shedding and political turmoil. That particular day, the front page carried a story about our local police station struggling with only five operational vehicles to serve 152 square kilometers . Can you imagine? How does one enforce justice without proper tools This got me thinking about our spiritual tools—how we investigate the greatest claims of truth. Are we properly equipped? I recall my uncle, a lifelong skeptic, challenging me: "How can an educated man like you believe a dead man came back to life?" Inst...
