Satan Always Attacks Those Next In Line For A Promotion.

Satan Always Attacks Those Next In Line For A Promotion

Scripture: 1 Peter 5:8 (NIV) "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."

1. Stay Alert: Be spiritually aware and discerning. Greek: "nēphō" means to be calm and collected.

2. Enemy's Nature: Satan is like a roaring lion, symbolizing intimidation.

His tactics include fear and discouragement.

3. Targeting the Promoted: Increased attacks on those nearing promotion.

Example: Joseph's trials before his rise (Genesis 37-41).

4. Spiritual Warfare: Our struggle is against spiritual forces (Ephesians 6:12).

Greek: "pale" means intense combat.

5. God's Protection: God provides armor and protection (Ephesians 6:13-17).

The "shield of faith" extinguishes the enemy's arrows.

Action Plan: Pray and read the Bible daily. Memorize scriptures on God's promises.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, protect and guide me as I face the enemy's attacks. Help me stay vigilant and trust in Your protection. Strengthen my faith and equip me with Your armor. In Jesus' name, Amen.

My story

Growing up, I was always a hard worker. I excelled in school, participated in extracurricular activities, and took on leadership roles whenever the opportunity presented itself. As I entered the workforce, my strong work ethic and dedication continued to drive me towards success.

I had been with my current company for several years, steadily climbing the corporate ladder and proving myself as a valuable asset to the team. I knew that a promotion was on the horizon, and I was ready to take on more responsibility and challenges.

However, as I got closer and closer to the promotion I had been working towards, I noticed a shift in the atmosphere at work. Colleagues who had once been supportive seemed to be distancing themselves from me, and rumors and gossip began to circulate about my work ethic and competence.

I soon realized that I was the target of a malicious campaign orchestrated by none other than Satan himself. It seemed that just as I was on the cusp of achieving my goals, he was determined to tear me down and prevent me from reaching my full potential.

But I refused to let Satan's attacks break me. I leaned on my faith in God, drawing strength from my belief in a higher power that was guiding me towards success. I prayed for guidance and courage, trusting that God would protect me through the storm.

Armed with faith and determination, I confronted the lies and rumors head-on, addressing them with honesty and integrity. Slowly but surely, I began to regain the trust and respect of my colleagues. I continued to work hard, staying true to my values and beliefs, and eventually, I was rewarded with the promotion I had been working towards.

Through the trials and tribulations that Satan threw my way, I learned valuable lessons about resilience and perseverance. I emerged from the experience stronger and more determined than ever to continue pursuing my dreams and goals.

I now know that Satan may always target those next in line for a promotion, but with faith in God, unwavering perseverance, and the support of loved ones, we can overcome his attacks and emerge victorious in the end.

Key Verses: Genesis 50:20 - "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives."

David:

Context: David was anointed as the future king of Israel but faced numerous attacks from King Saul.

Scripture: 1 Samuel 16-31.

Theological Explanation

Theologically, the concept of Satan attacking those on the verge of a significant breakthrough aligns with the understanding of spiritual warfare. The Bible describes Satan as an adversary who seeks to devour and destroy (1 Peter 5:8). When individuals are about to step into a God-ordained role or receive a blessing, they may become targets of spiritual attacks aimed at discouraging or derailing them.

Etymology and Symbolism

Satan (Hebrew: שָּׂטָן, "satan"): The term means "adversary" or "accuser." It reflects his role in opposing God's people and purposes.

Temptation (Greek: πειρασμός, "peirasmos"): This term can mean a trial or test, often with the implication of an enticement to sin.

Practical Application

Understanding this concept can help believers remain vigilant and steadfast during times of trial, recognizing that such challenges may precede significant spiritual or personal advancements. It encourages reliance on God's strength and faithfulness, as seen in the lives of Joseph, David, and Jesus.

Key Verses for Encouragement

James 1:12: "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him."

Ephesians 6:11: "Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes."

By examining these examples and scriptures, we can see a pattern where significant trials often precede divine promotion or blessing, reinforcing the idea that spiritual attacks may intensify as one approaches a breakthrough.

The Firm Foundation of Faith

## The Firm Foundation of Faith **Scripture:** Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." **Thought:** Life's journey is often marked by uncertainty and challenges. This faith allows us to persevere, knowing that God is working, even when we can't see the immediate results. It empowers us to step forward with courage, knowing we're not alone. Embracing this understanding allows us to live with a peace that surpasses all understanding, a peace rooted in the unshakeable truth of God's love and faithfulness. **Action Plan:** Spend 15 minutes today in quiet meditation on Hebrews 11. Reflect on a specific area in your life where you need to strengthen your faith. **Prayer:** Heavenly Father, I come before You today acknowledging my need for a stronger faith. Help me to truly grasp the meaning of Hebrews 11:1, to trust in Your promises even when I cannot see the outcome. In Jesus’ name, Amen. My story  Th...

**Restoring Relationships**

Last Tuesday, during Eskom’s Stage 6 load-shedding, I sat in my dimly lit Akasia living room, staring at a WhatsApp message from my cousin Thabo. Our once-close bond had fractured over a political debate—ANC vs. EFF—that spiraled into personal jabs. His text read: *“You’ve become a coconut, bra. Black on the outside, white-washed inside.”* My reply? A venomous *“At least I’m not a populist clown.”* Pride, that sly serpent, had coiled around our tongues.   But as the generator hummed and my coffee cooled, Colossians 3:13 flickered in my mind like a candle in the dark: *“Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”* Unconditional. No asterisks. No “but he started it.” Just grace.   **II. The Theology of Broken Pipes**   South Africa knows fractures. Our Vaal River, choked by sewage and neglect, mirrors relational toxicity—grievances left to fester. Yet, Christ’s forgiveness isn’t a passive drip; it’s a flash flood. To “bear with one another” (Colossians 3:13) is to choo...

The Power of the Mundane

## The Power of the Mundane **Scripture:** "And not a sparrow falls to the ground apart from your Father's will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are more valuable than many sparrows." - Matthew 10:29-31 **Thought:** We often focus on the big moments, the grand gestures, believing those are the only things that truly matter to God. But Jesus reminds us that He cares deeply for even the smallest details of our lives. The way we approach our daily tasks, the words we speak, the thoughts we harbor – all of it is important. God sees it all, and He values each detail. This understanding empowers us to see purpose in the mundane, to find meaning in the seemingly insignificant. **Action Plan:** Today, choose one small task that you typically rush through or do without much thought. As you do it, consciously pause and offer it as a prayer to God. Thank Him for the opportunity to serve Him, even in this seemingly insignificant act.  **...
