**Scripture:** Colossians 3:2 "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."

**Deep Thought with Christian Values:** The busyness of life can easily pull us away from the peace and purpose God has for us. We can get caught up in the daily grind, consumed by anxieties and desires of the world. However, Colossians 3:2 reminds us to "set our minds on things above." This doesn't mean ignoring our responsibilities; it means intentionally choosing to focus our attention on the things that matter most - God's love, His will for our lives, and His eternal promises. This is where mindfulness comes in. Mindfulness, in a Christian context, is about being present in the moment, actively choosing to center our thoughts on God and His purpose for us. By focusing on the spiritual realm, we can quiet the noise of the world and listen for the whispers of God's guidance.

**One Point Action Plan:** Start a daily "mindfulness moment":** Take 5 minutes each day to sit quietly and reflect on God's presence in your life. Focus on verses like Colossians 3:2 or Philippians 4:8. Let these words guide your thoughts and help you reconnect with your purpose.

**Prayer: Lord, I acknowledge that I am easily distracted by the cares of this world. Help me to quiet my mind and listen for your voice. Give me the strength to set my mind on things above and to walk in the purpose you have for my life. In Jesus' name, Amen. 

My story

The world, with its clamoring demands, felt like a constant pull, a relentless tug on my attention. I'd find myself lost in the whirlwind of my worries, my mind racing with anxieties about school, relationships, the future, and the countless "what ifs." 

Then, in the quiet of the porch swing, with the sunlight painting the world in golden hues, I stumbled upon a verse in Colossians. "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." 

It was a simple sentence, yet it held a profound truth. I realized I was letting the world's noise drown out the whispers of God's will. I was neglecting to cultivate a space within myself for stillness, for the calm presence of God. It was then that I understood the importance of mindfulness.

I needed to create a conscious space for my thoughts, a space where I could focus on God's voice above the din of the world. Philippians 4:8 gave me a framework: "Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things." 

Slowly, I began to practice mindfulness, taking deliberate moments to focus on God's love and presence. It wasn't always easy, but with each quiet moment, I felt a sense of calm washing over me. I began to notice the beauty around me, the intricate details of nature, the kindness in a stranger's smile. These small moments became anchors, grounding me in the present, helping me to silence the anxieties that threatened to overwhelm me.

My faith became less of a set of rules and more of a relationship, a constant dialogue with a loving God. I learned to listen to the quiet nudges of His spirit, to trust His plan even when the path ahead seemed unclear.

It wasn't a linear journey. There were times of doubt, moments of fear, and struggles that tested my faith. Yet, through the practice of mindfulness, I found the strength to face these challenges with grace and resilience. 

The worn leather Bible, a constant reminder of my grandfather's faith, now held a deeper significance. It was a tangible symbol of the legacy he'd entrusted to me, a legacy of faith, love, and the unwavering belief in God's presence in every moment. 

And as I continue my journey, I am filled with gratitude for the gift of mindfulness, a gift that has helped me to quiet the noise of the world and find my true purpose in the unwavering love of GodGod.

By being intentional about our thoughts and actions, we can align ourselves more closely with God's plan for our lives and experience a deeper sense of fulfillment and purpose.
